Benefits of Lemongrass & Eucalyptus Essential Oils in Chicken Coops

Benefits of Lemongrass & Eucalyptus Essential Oils in Chicken Coops

If you’ve been around here long enough, it’s no secret that Coop Recuperate is hands down my favorite product for our coop bedding. Part of the reason I got back into backyard chickens was because of this product!

Before Coop Recuperate, I hated the smell of backyard chickens. They poop a bunch, create a lot of dust and just don’t smell fantastic. Coop Recuperate changes all that! Well, not the poop part, but our coop smells lemongrass and eucalyptus fresh!

Strong Animals Chicken Essentials has taken essential oils and carefully formulated their products to be safe for our feathered friends! So, if you have ducks and geese, these products will be perfect for you, too.

I’ve been using essential oils on my family for years. So, when Strong Animals Chicken Essentials launched, I was super excited! Combining backyard chickens and essential oils? Count me in!

Today, I’d love to focus on the organic lemongrass and eucalyptus oils we find in Coop Recuperate. Let’s start with lemongrass essential oil.

The benefits of lemongrass go far beyond the yummy smell! Did you know that lemongrass essential oil has bacterial and yeast fighting properties? It also helps fight fungus (ick!), reduces inflammation, aids digestion and keeps bugs away. There are also awesome benefits for relieving muscle pain, easing headaches, as well as adding a wonderful flavor to tea or other foods. It contains antioxidant properties which are huge for our immune systems. Sound too good to be true? It’s not! Incorporating lemongrass essential oils into your everyday life and your chickens will naturally benefit you both.

Now, let’s talk about eucalyptus essential oils. Eucalyptus is great for respiratory health, boosting the immune system, can alleviate headaches, sore muscles and joints, and eases stress. Eucalyptus can help with allergies, sinuses and other illnesses. It also has strong antimicrobial properties that work against bacteria, fungi and viruses. It’s an excellent multipurpose oil and one we keep on hand regularly in our home.

How does eucalyptus help chickens? The antimicrobial properties themselves work magic in your coop. The soothing scent is delightful. And, knowing that it is working against all the bad things that want to grow in an environment where chickens are, gives me great peace of mind that I’m doing the right thing for our flock.

We even use Coop Recuperate in our chick brooders!

Does this sound all good to be true? It’s not! The combined duo of organic lemongrass and organic eucalyptus essential oils is a powerhouse in keeping bedding healthy. Healthy bedding reduces the chance of mites and lice, respiratory issues, and other unhealthy environments where bacteria and fungus thrive. A dirty, unhealthy environment is the start of most chicken illnesses.

Coop Recuperate freshens and lengthens the life of your bedding. It keeps the bugs and flies away and cuts back on bacteria growth. All products are natural, use organic essential oils and have no egg withdrawal period.

Strong Animals Chicken Essentials has changed the way we do backyard chicken keeping. They have made it easier, more enjoyable and healthier for our family and the flock. If you’re on the fence about jumping in with both feet on all the products, I’d highly recommend starting with Coop Recuperate (Now available on Amazon and Chewy)!

You’ll walk out of your coop smelling lemongrass and eucalyptus fresh and your chickens will thank you!

Until next time,
