The tree is up, the stockings are hung and if you’re anything like me, you’re working through that Christmas to-do list! This year, Christmas snuck up on me with Thanksgiving being so late. While I’ve finished most of my Christmas shopping, there are still a few people left on my list that have me stumped.

A Fun Gift Idea: Gifting Fresh Eggs

One day, as I was staring at the piles of eggs overflowing in my kitchen, inspiration struck! I had fresh eggs in a cute bucket by the stove, a small tote full on the counter and about four dozen more out in the coop. While many chickens slow down their laying in winter, if you have an insulated coop and provide enough light, you’ll still get plenty of eggs. My family loves eggs, but we couldn’t keep up!

This abundance of eggs gave me a fun and practical idea: gift eggs! I love giving gifts that people can actually use. In a world full of "things," why not give something healthy, delicious and thoughtful? Plus, it’s an inexpensive gift that anyone would appreciate.

How to Wrap Your Fresh Eggs for Gifting

You don’t need to spend a lot to make your egg gift look special. Get creative with your craft supplies! Sometimes, simple wrapping is the best. Here are some ideas for wrapping your eggs:

  • Twine or ribbon

  • Bows and stickers

  • Gift tags

  • Rubber stamps

  • Chalkboard labels

  • Brown butcher paper or paper grocery bags

  • A sprig of herb or greenery from your garden

  • Use an egg carton, wire basket, wicker basket or galvanized bucket

I ordered egg cartons online and my daughter even had a custom stamp made to label them. Below, you can see how we "wrapped" our eggs, plus more ideas to inspire you!
