Infused Water for Labor Day

I cannot believe it’s the end of summer. Where in the world did it go? I always believed people who told me that the time with our kids will go fast. But, unless you walk through it, I don’t think we can really understand just how fast it is. We’re getting ready to send our oldest off to his last year of high school. There’s a lot of emotions with that, but most of all, I’m excited to see what the next chapter will hold for him.
Labor Day has always been a special weekend for us. We are typically finished with back-to-school shopping and can just enjoy family time through the weekend. One of the biggest highlights is our giant food fight. Yes, you read that right. It’s a yearly tradition and everyone looks forward to it. We usually serve hotdogs over the campfire and end our night with s’mores. This year, I’m going to add some infused waters to add some healthy to our meal!
I am a water drinker. I typically drink over a gallon a day. I enjoy the taste and outside of my 2 cups of coffee in the morning, you’ll rarely see me drinking anything else. However, I realize not everyone feels the same way about water as I do. So, to spice things up a bit, I will sometimes add fruit and even cucumber to our water.
I learned a long time ago in health class that our bodies are made up to about 70 percent of water. Water is essential to healthy living. The effects of dehydration are terrible, and most people don’t understand that simply drinking more water can help their headache to go away, make them less dizzy, prevent kidney infections, give them more energy and even sleep better. If you’re not a water drinker, let me encourage you to add some fresh or frozen fruit to infuse some flavor. We may turn you into a water drinker yet!!!

There are many combinations of infused water, and it really depends on your preference.
Here are my 3 infused water combinations that are a favorite around here:
Berry Blend uses sliced strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries.
Simple Cucumber is just as it sounds. Cucumber only.
Lemon Lime is a crowd favorite. I’ve also used melons, mango and pineapple, cherry and peach, cucumber and lime.
They are all so delicious and fun! I will say that fresh fruit stays prettier for longer if that’s important to you. Frozen fruit gives good flavor, but some of the fruit can look kind of wonky after some time.
I hope you had a wonderful rest of your summer and a great start to the new school year!
Until next time,
